Unit 10 Where did you go on vacation(Section A)Good morning/ afternoon, dear judges! I'm very glad to be here to present my classtoday. I'm number X candidate applying for the English teacher of the secondary school. And my topic today is Unit 10 Where did you go on vacation. To get a better understanding of my instructional designing, I'm going to divide it into 6 sections, that is, the analysis of teaching materials, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. Now I am going to present them one by one. Part One: Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThe first and foremost is the analysis of the teaching materials. Today's lesson is the Unit 10, Section A of Go For It, 7B, published by People's Education Press. Its main theme is about talking about vacation, which is closely related to students' daily life. In the past, students might have spent some time on vacation, so they are quite familiar with this topic and anxious to share their experience with their classmates, wich will be beneficial to today's teaching and learning.Based on the New Curriculum Standard, today's teaching objectives are as follows:1. Knowledge objectivesKnowledge objective is to master the new words "New York City, summer camp, central" and the usage of "the simple past tense". 2. Ability objectivesAbility objective is to learn how to use the simple past tense to describe the thing happened in the past. 3. Emotional objectivesEmotional objective is to get the students to love the beautiful scenery in China, and love their own country, and help the students to form the spirit of teamwork.Given the teaching materials and the students' characteristics, I suppose the teaching key and difficult points are the usage of "the simple past tense" and how to talkabout the thing happened in the past.

Part Two: Analysis of the studentsOK, let's turn to the analysis of students. Students of Grade 7 have studied English for at least 4 years and grasped a certain amount of English knowledge. They are eager to show, eager to learn. They can cooperate with their classmates to finish a task. On theother hand, students' ability of using English is limited; their abstract thinking is not fully developed and they can be easily distracted. Therefore, all of these shall be taken into consideration into today's teaching.Part Three: The Teaching MethodsAccording to the analysis of teaching materials and students, I'm going to arrange my lesson by mainly using the Task-based Method. Part Four: The Learning MethodsThe learning Methods of this lesson will be focused on cooperative and researched methods. Students will finish a series of activities to learn the language points today.Teaching AidsDuring the teaching process, recorder, CAI and pictures will be needed. Part Five: Teaching ProceduresOK, so much for the teaching and learning methods. And the next one is the most important part of today, the teaching procedures, which will be demonstrated in the following steps: Step 1.Leading-inIn this step, I'm going to play the songs about some places of interest, such as the Great Wall, the Yellow Mountain, the West Lake and so on. Beautiful songs will create agood atmosphere for students to get involved, and students will also get a general idea of today's lesson and their interest will be raised as well.Step 2. Pre-task 1. Guessing game: In order to get the students to be more familiar with today's topic, I' d like them to have a guessing pictures game first. When the students listen to the song of the Great Wall, I'll ask: “What isthe song about? Can you guess?”Ss: the Great Wall.

T: Yes, the Great Wall. It is a place of interest. Then, I'll continue to show more pictures. including the pictures of New York City, Shanghai Museum, the Yellow Mountain and the Central Park.T: Now there are some pictures of places of interest, too. Guess what they are.Several minutes later, I will teach them the new words "New York City, summer camp, central park". 2. Discussion After learning the new words, I'm going to write a table on the blackboard. Then I'd like the students to work in groups to talk about the places they want to visit, and fill in the table below. NamePlaces want to visitXiao WangThe Summer Palace......Step 3. While-task In this step, I'm going to provide a series of tasks for students to finish.(1) Matching GameStudents work together to match the activities with the pictures in 1a. The picture in page 59 is very vivid, so students will be easy to do this task based on their own judgment.(2) Listening comprehension I' d like the students to listen to the tape and number the people in1b. (2) Reading comprehension Students will read the conversation in page 59 first. During the course, I will writethe dialogue on the blackboard and ask students to pay special attention to the usage of the simple past tense. Then they will be divided into 7 groups to ask about vacation in 1a. Each group shall finish one conversation.Where did Tina go on vacation? She went to the mountains.(3) Role-play

Students practice the dialogue and then act the dialogue out according to the modelone in the book. (4) Listening comprehension Students will continue to listen to the tape of activity 2a, and match the people and places. By the same way, they will finish the activity 2b.(5) Grammar focusThe simple past tense is a very common grammar in English, so it shall be analyzed very carefully. First I'll write some present tense and past tense statements on the blackboard like this:I often stay at home. I stayed at home yesterday. He visits the museum. He visited the Science Museum last week. They go to summer camp. Jim went to summer camp.I will ask students to look carefully at these sentences and invite some to tell us the difference. The I will tell the students that when we talk about the past events, we must use the past tense, just like the words" stayed, visited, went". And the most common mothed is to add the "ed', such as: visit—visited rain—rained like—liked hope--hopedStep 4.Post-taskGroup work:I'd like students to work in groups to talked about the things happened in the past. Students can give me the answers as more as possible.Step 5.Homework Homework is important for the further development of students' language ability. So, I'd students to write a short passage about where you went and how was your vacation.Part Six: Design of the blackboardLast but not the least is the blackboard design. As you can see, I have mainly used the table to activate the language points so that students will grasp them better and use them in the actual life.Unit 10 Where did you go on vacation Section A The First Period
